Approximately 1 in 10 adults in the UK experience bleeding from the bottom every year in the UK. A common cause of rectal bleeding is haemorrhoids (piles) but there are many other causes. We would therefore always recommend that you seek medical advice for a consultation and examination to obtain an accurate diagnosis.

\nTo obtain a diagnosis and to rule out more serious causes, including bowel cancer (link*), further investigations such as a flexible sigmoidoscopy or colonoscopy may be recommended.<\/p>\n
