Hernia repair<\/h1>\n

A hernia occurs when an organ pushes through an opening or weakness in the muscle or tissue that normally holds it in place. They can occur throughout the body but most hernias occur in the groin or abdominal (body) wall.<\/p>\n

Often these types of hernias cause no symptoms but can sometimes cause discomfort and pain. Several factors need to be considered as to whether an operation a suitable treatment option but these include the type of hernia, the effect of symptoms on your daily life and your general health.<\/p>\n

Surgery for most types of hernia can be performed either as a traditional \u201copen\u201d operation or with \u201ckeyhole surgery\u201d which can have some advantages in terms of pain experienced after surgery and a shorter recovery time. I perform both types of repair.<\/p>\n
